There’s a big problem with sugar. It’s in almost all processed foods we eat, unused energy we derive from it is stored as fat, and it’s more addictive than cocaine!

No wonder it is becoming harder and harder to keep the pounds off! But luckily there are ways to free yourself from this addiction…

How to Kick the Sugar Habit and Lose the Cravings

Reduce Sugar Intake – Begin reading labels and recognize the various names for sugars and sweeteners. Then swap out items high in sugar for ones that contain less sugar. For example swap a sugary cereal for one made from whole grain with less added sugar. This will allow your taste buds to gain sensitivity for natural sweetness again.

Eat More Protein – Protein is incredibly satiating, more so than fats and carbs, and with that it curbs cravings. Make sure there are at least 20-30 grams of protein in each of your meals, and you’ll be good to go.

Don’t Skip Meals – When you skip meals, your blood sugar drops, and sugar cravings become inevitable. On top of that, you will most likely overeat at your next meal, sabotaging any weight-loss efforts.

Find other Ways to Soothe – Instead of ice cream or candy bars, indulge in some TV, yoga, a good book, or anything else that feels a bit like a treat to you. You’ll find yourself forgetting all about those cravings.

Tickle Your Taste Buds – Seriously, what else is there that can delight your taste buds beside sugar? Fresh herbs and spices can have so much flavor that sugar cannot offer. Try eating something really flavorful, like following a recipe from Flavorful Fit Fare.

Before You Grab that Candy Bar – Stop! And, think. Why are you wanting this candy bar right now? Is there another way you can get what you need?
