Biggi Does Detox – Day 3

Today I am going to share some fabulous tips about the benefits of lemon juice for detoxification and weight loss. But, first things first…

Detox Day 3 – Workout and Meal Timing

Day 3 of my detox, and I am proud to report I stayed in the saddle, and things are going well. I got an extra dose of sleep last night (which supports my body’s healing process), and had my first weight training workout since starting the 21-Day Detox for a Sexy New You. I started working out about 2.5 hours after breakfast, which is longer than my usual 1 – 1.5 hours after a meal routine I practice, since I am eating fewer meals during this detox. So, while working out I noticed I was a little light-headed, so I grabbed the nearest emergency snack, a banana, after doing crunches, of course. I wouldn’t want to crunch a full stomach.

While the timing between breakfast and my workout wasn’t great, I did time the workout to be followed by lunch (see pic below). A good combination of lean protein, starchy and fibrous carbs, and healthy fats (that’s virgin olive oil on the Brussels sprouts).

How to Detox and Lose Weight with Lemon Juice

Yum! Now, on to the benefits of lemon juice, and remember this is not an exhaustive list. I have personally had lemon juice with hot water and honey in the morning, every single morning for the last 6+ years!

  1. Aids Digestion.
  2. Cleanses Your System/ is a Diuretic.
  3. Boosts Your Immune System.
  4. Balances pH Levels.
  5. Clears Up Skin.
  6. Energizes You and Enhances Your Mood.
  7. Promotes Healing.
  8. Freshens Breath.
  9. Hydrates Your Lymph System.
  10. Aids in Weight Loss.

I also found this great article over at CureJoy, which details all the advantages of lemon juice for weight loss that you may want to check out. The author also shares this great recipe, which includes apple cider vinegar – another regular in my day for the past 3 years:

Morning Lemon Elixir

Make this first thing in the morning before eating. Try to use real ingredients if possible instead of their processed counterparts.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup room temperature water
  • Juice 1 lemon (I use a hand press from Crate & Barrel)
  • 1 teaspoon Bragg’s raw apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey OR a couple drops of stevia
  • 1/2 inch of fresh ginger root or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

(Use stevia if you are on yeast cleansing or low sugar diet)

FYI: While on the detox, I am drinking my lemon juice as well as my ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) drink without honey. Just another fear I had beforehand, that didn’t turn out all that bad. Most likely I will be adding honey again at a later point, but not for the sweetness, but rather the health benefits of honey (to be left for another article).
